Often the news and science are in conflict, especially when it comes to issues that are at the heart of political debate. With regard to marijuana use and legalization, the news is increasingly in agreement with legalizing it based on its “health benefits,” while scientists are still trying to confirm those facts. In reality (according to a study by the Journal of Neuroscience), marijuana use is associated with brain abnormalities and “problems with work, school, the law, relationships, no academic issues.” This has huge repercussions for teen marijuana use. Teenager’s brains are still developing, so adding the effects of teen marijuana use could be detrimental.
