Psychiatric Treatment for Teens at Paradigm

Parents often feel hopeless when therapy and medication haven’t successfully addressed their adolescent’s mental illness. Still, the idea of seeking care at a psychiatric treatment center can be frightening. When people think of psychiatric treatment, they may imagine a hospital or institutional settings with sterile corridors with scrub green walls. These type of hospital settings certainly exist, but are meant for those with the most severe illnesses or who may be a danger to themselves or others.

Psychiatric treatment for teens can also take the form of residential treatment programs where clients have living arrangements that closely resemble home in an idealized sense. This type of environment isn’t just about providing a very comfortable and oftentimes luxurious experience for clients – it also helps clients relax so that they can feel safe to build the skills they will need to thrive post-treatment. These programs offer clients a safe, supervised environment while still allowing a great deal of freedom, socialization, recreation, and skill-building throughout treatment.

In residential treatment setting like those provided at Paradigm, clients work on daily living skills while attending therapies and interventions that promote treatment and recovery. These programs offer a chance to socialize with peers and staff, engage in recreational activities together, and develop new skills which help clients cope with mental challenges and set them up for success post-treatment. No two residential programs are alike in their approaches, living arrangements, client-to-staff ratios, and overall effectiveness, so finding the right program for your loved one is essential.

We also incorporate personalized academic work as needed in order to address our clients’ learning needs, with a minimum of three hours of daily academic work a day.

Everything we do springs from and supports our core belief that an effective psychiatric treatment program needs to do more than offer a one-time intervention.
